Remember, You Are Amazing!

Lets be honest, there is a LOT of negativity about, in the papers, the radio, newspapers etc … the mass media seem to love producing negative massages.

When it comes to meeting and conquering or as we say in NLP, “reframing” this negativity in our lives, well here are some questions we often get asked:

  • What can I/we do, starting today, that will make a difference?
  • What can I/we do during this economic chaos?
  • What can I/we do when everything has gone wrong?
  • What can I/we do when you’ve run out of money, when you don’t feel well and it’s all gone sour?
  • What can I/we really do?

Let me give you an answer: Do Something, different actions will ALWAYS lead to new results.  Set a goal and follow it till you get what you want!  We have talked about the power of goal setting many times before, for more ideas read our blog and or buy the new book Goals: (Info Here)

“When you affirm big, believe big, and pray big, big things happen.” ~ Norman Vincent Peale

You can do the most remarkable things, no matter what happens. People can do, and have done incredible things, unbelievable things, despite the most impossible or disastrous circumstances.  The truth is that we are so much more than our history or current circumstances. As Stephen Covey has said, “Live out of your imagination, not your history”.

Here is why humans can do remarkable things: because we are remarkable! Humans are different than any other creation on earth, when a dog, cat or even ape sees weeds, they stay with weeds. But that’s not true with human beings. Humans can turn weeds into gardens.

“No one can cheat you out of ultimate success but yourself.” ~  Ralph Waldo Emerson

As Jim Rohn used to say, “Humans can turn nothing into something, pennies into fortune, and disaster into success”. Try reaching down inside of yourself; you’ll come up with some more of those remarkable human gifts. They’re there, waiting to be discovered and employed, all you need is a little encouragement, some new ideas, and that’s the power of Personal Development which includes having Personal or Life Coach.

Once you (we) accept that you can change anything in your life you wish to change the rest is as easy as following a process.

“One doesn’t discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time.” ~ André Gide

My challenge for you now is to do it. Decide what you want to change in your life and take the first steps towards this outcome now, if you are not sure how to take the first few steps, or have no idea about how to start with you’re Personal Development, then ask!

Ok, so if there is one thing to get excited about, it’s your ability to change, to make yourself do the necessary things, to get a desired result, to turn the negative into success. That’s true excitement and I wish you every success.

Goals: The Key Element For Success.

Goals: The Key Element For Success.

Time and again research studies consistently show that having goals makes a significant difference in creating success.  In fact, research to one side,  biographies of high achievers throughout history demonstrate time and again that this idea of goal setting and personal and professional success go hand in hand. So if you want to achieve anything worthwhile you absolutely have to have a goal.

The question is of course, is the “how” to do this successfully, how do you design goals can make all the difference, the difference in effect on you as well as the success of achieving them.

Step one, your goals have to be big enough to get you out of bed and feel VERY motivated.

Just being a little more efficient at work or losing a little weight etc really aren’t big enough targets to aim at. You need big, BIG goals, goals that will ignite your passion, our imagination, energy and then they can be a part of the kick start you need to spur yourself into action.

NLP One Day Taster
NLP One Day Taster

It’s been estimated that the number thoughts we have each day is between 3000 and 5000, that’s a lot of thinking.  And much of this thinking is simply responding to other ideas (often other peoples), and are not rooted in our best interests, i.e., what we realty want from life.So the fist step here is this: take a few moments to write down some big goals, remember THINK BIG.  Use words that are descriptive, get as much vivid detail as you can. What do you see, hear and feel?

Now, I have mentioned this before in other postings, but it’s worth mentioning again. Our unconscious minds do not process negative instructions. As an example, don’t think of kangaroos now.  I am guessing the more I say not to think of kangaroos, the more you think of kangaroos now!

So as you write your goals ensure that they are positive action orientated statements:

I want to be this or that

I want to have …I want to be in the sunshine etc …

Once you have done this, pick just one of your outcomes, the one that seems to motivate you the most.  Look at the words you have written, do you need to re-write it again to make it even more compelling? If so, do so now.  Then the next step. Looking at your goal, what is the first step?Think about this and then set a time to take this action. Tell people that you are going to do this, put it in your daily planner … type it up and print it out and post it all over your house.
You MUST commit to making a start.

As Tony Robbins says, take action every day toward your goal. And this is good advice, but the first step seems to be the key. So do it NOW!

If you think you are not ready, this is simply just an internal doubt. The open secret is in the books we mentioned at the start of this article. Successful people take action as soon as they have decided, often before they or those around them feel ready.

Stepping up and out is as I have said the key, taking risks is an essential part of the journey towards success.

Dancing Round the Handbags : Book Launch & Author Presentation : 8th February

The UK College of Personal Development is proud to announce that we are hosting the book launch of Dancing ’Round the Handbags’®, a powerful new book by Lynne Copp.

About The Book:

Dancing ’Round the Handbags’® is a more than a self-development book for hard-working women, it is a catalyst for changing and balancing the way we work and live.

Using the metaphor of the ‘handbag’ and the ‘dance’, coach, public speaker and Brit Writers’ Award winning author Lynne Copp helps you to dance your best life.

The Dance is a metaphor for what you do each day; dance to the tunes of others. The multiple roles of mother, wife, boss, friend, daughter, colleague etc. means that you are so busy dancing to the tunes of others that you have little time to dance to your own dreams, aspirations and potential; your own music.

About The Author:

Lynne Copp is Managing Director of The Worklife Company, an organisation that she formed 14 years ago after leaving a senior role in HP, where she was Head of Marketing Communication.

She is a Leader with extensive experience in business coaching and culture change across a wide range of organisations and industries. She is passionate about achieving business success by releasing potential of people through effective leadership communication, culture and inclusion.

She has worked with companies like Google, Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Government and Public Sector. Lynne is an internationally recognised expert in worklife balance, wellbeing and diversity; an inspiring speaker and coach who not only creates motivation for change, but also delivers solutions relevant to today’s business, people and customer environments.

Entitled Lipstick Leadership, she has released a report detailing her research into excellence in female leadership.

Lynne is retained as a coach for a number of companies, and is an active member of The Association of NLP, the International Coaching Federation and a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD and a member of the UK College of Personal Development.
